Is it worth getting a sound card for this? Or is there already a good one built in?

I have the Maximus IX Hero (same on-board sound card), the SupremeFX III is really excellent. I used to have a Creative Sound Blaster, which I now consider superfluous. Not necessary for 7.1 systems either. Get the Maximus and decide later if you're not sure.

A sound card is worthwhile for good audio peripherals or for a 5.1/7.1 sound system.
For non-audiophiles it is not worthwhile.
