Is it really true that this AP does not support 802.11b? Is this standard still needed at all?

The IEEE 802.11b standard is outdated and would have given you a transmission speed of up to 11 Mb/s. The successor 802.11g gives you speeds of up to 54 Mb/s. The successor 802.11g allows speeds of up to 54 Mb/s. Read here: https://www.ip-insider.de/was-ist-80...
