1. view recordings retrospectively: You cannot view recordings retrospectively without a subscription to the Arlo Secure app. With a subscription, you can save up to 30 days of video history.

2. base station: You do not need a base station for the Arlo Essential XL 2K Outdoor Camera. This camera connects directly to your Wi-Fi network.
