Is it possible to set the colours to run from one side to the other? So instead of always changing the colours on the whole strip, let them run from e.g. left to right. Thank you!

No, that is not possible with this type of LED strip. For such effects, you need actively controllable LED modules on the strip. Philips only has this with the Play Gradient for TV Ambiance lighting.
