Is it possible to replace the factory-installed M.2 SSD with this larger Samsung 850 EVO (500GB M.2 2280) and would I then have to install the operating system on this new M.2?
According to heise.de, Geizhals.at and eBay.at, the Dell XPS 13 has a PCIe/NVMe (2280/M-Key slot) and a Samsung M.2 2280 850 EVO should therefore work. I'm a bit surprised, though, as I would have expected a 2260 slot. However, you will of course have to install the operating system on the new SSD. However, the easiest way is to simply mirror the SSD. As far as I know, Samsung includes a programme for this.
