Is it also possible to clarify in advance whether one is entitled to purchase the licence? I would not like to purchase the product without knowing whether my school certificate is sufficient...

You are free to send Adobe your school record in advance for verification. The outcome is unknown. But bear in mind that such goodies would no longer be offered if everyone did this, as the administrative burden would be far too great in the end. Incidentally, the damage to Adobe's image would be so great if they did not keep their promises that the probability of not accepting a school ID card would be close to zero. From my own experience, I can say that the process went very quickly and smoothly.
