I'm wondering why a 6tb hard drive I inserted into the Icy Box IB-3810U3 had to be reformatted first and then only showed a little over 600gb capacity. Do I still need special drivers? Or how do I get the full capacity?

That's strange, because I didn't have this problem. How did you format it NTFS or FAT32? Possibly defragment the disk and choose NTFS.

An Icy Box is only a docking station for the hard drive(s).
This cannot be due to the station, but rather to the PC.
