I'm strongly considering replacing my new Philips OLED (48") with this Sony (55" + at reduced prices?).
One more technical question: using the Sony XR-55A95 with my new Sony HT-A9 as a centre, but at the same time outputting the sound (bypass) via optical audio-out to my AV receiver preamplifier (has no HDMI) with top floorstanding speakers is not possible, is it?

PS: at the moment this works with the optical audio-out because the Sony HT-A9 can only use a Sony TV as a centre, so this connection is not possible at all with the current set-up.

Yes exactly, as soon as an optical signal goes out from the TV, the sound comes through the Av receiver.
It can always happen that a product is made worse.

As I see it now, it really doesn't work, but it does with the predecessor model Sony XR-55A95K (2022), as this still had a dedicated optical audio out and no hybrid optical audio out/ S-centre in.
So the new -L model is an improvement for the worse.
