If you have two cards, when can you swap them? When it is simply switched off completely? I'm asking because I've noticed that even when the Xbox Series X is completely switched off, the fan suddenly starts running. And I have selected complete shutdown in the options.

I have the Serie S. I change the card when it is switched off. I have no problems.

Hello,
In the general settings, set shutdown to sleep mode. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds until the console shuts down. Then start the console and set it to shutdown again in the general settings. This should solve the problem as stated on the Xbox website. When the fan switches on, the Xbox usually checks for updates, so I would replace the card when it is completely off.
