If used as a repeater, does it create an additional WLAN like various repeaters, or does it actually extend the existing one? Does it have to be connected to the router via RJ45 or can it be used as a stand-alone?
Yes, when used as a repeater, it creates a new WLAN environment. However, there is the option that the "new" WLAN can be realised under the same network name. I can't say exactly how it looks then, because I would like to know whether I am working on the Extended-NW or not.
The repeater does not have to be connected to the main router via RJ45 to be able to perform its function properly.
