If I understand correctly, this watch has 4G support. Is there perhaps an MT40 version that only has 3G? We bought the MT40 last year from mobilezone with a swisscom subscription. Now a letter came from swisscom that 3G will be switched off at the end of 2025 and that I will be affected with my watch. But if they support 4G, then why?

The problem:
If the watch is 4G-capable but does not support VoLTE, it will no longer be able to make or receive calls after 3G is switched off - even if data would continue to run over 4G. Many children's watches do support 4G data, but not always VoLTE for telephony.

What to do?
Check the technical data of the watch or with the manufacturer to see whether the MT40X supports VoLTE (Voice over LTE).

If VoLTE is supported and set up correctly, the watch should continue to work after the 3G switch-off.

If VoLTE is not supported, the watch will no longer be able to make calls after 2025, even if 4G data continues to work.

I had the same problem on the Sunrise network (ALDI). After I could no longer make calls, I asked the dealer (MediaMarkt) at the end of 2025. The salesperson printed out an internal communication from TCL stating that the "VoLTE" option should be available with firmware version MT40_EUZ_00.01_01 .202. After I had carried out an update, version 205 was even installed, but VoLTE was still not available.
I had actually already written off the watch - until my daughter asked again several times. I then installed version 208 yesterday and lo and behold, the "VoLTE" option was now displayed in the "More -> Settings" menu. Once activated, you can finally make calls again.

This needs a check for sure if VoLTE is supported or not.
