If I connect to an external screen, can I use the keyboard in 'tablet' mode, i.e. built-in screen face down on the table & keyboard face-up?

I tried but I couldn't use the keyboard in Tablet mode as you describe. Perhaps you need to make the right settings. Personally, I use a Docking Station to work on the big screen. The computer stays in the drawer and I use a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse.

I have tested it. The external monitor is connected directly to the laptop with the HDMI cable. In tablet mode, the laptop keyboard is deactivated.
However, the problem can be circumvented with an external wireless keyboard or with the Windows on-screen keyboard which is included in the Accessibility folder.
