Question about Sonos Beam

If I connect the Sonos Beam to the TV via HDMI ARC, is the volume also controlled via the TV (or its remote control)? Since other people who are not as technically fit as I am also use the TV, the volume control via the app is out of the question. My TV remote control doesn't have IR, and with my current setup I had to connect a Sonos Connect, which is connected to the analogue audio output. And so I can also use the Sonos soundbar with the TV remote control. But I would like to adjust the setup so that I can do without the Sonos Connect.
