If, as stated here by the manufacturer, the baking elements are made of aluminium, this sounds hazardous to health. The thickness of the coating is then of great interest. How much is it and what material is it made of?

According to our enquiry with the supplier, the plates of the waffle irons are made from a PTFE-based non-stick coating. The PTFE coating used is extremely stable and free from PFOA. The waffle irons are independently tested for chemical safety and conformity. These independent tests fulfil the relevant European regulations. One of these regulations is the LFGB, which is regulated by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). The BfR has set up a special FAQ page on PTFE coatings in cookware, which can be found here:

The specific coating is used within the permissible temperatures recommended by the coating supplier. Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the coating thickness.
