I would wait to buy this CPU and forgo the pre-order. AMD's price recommendation to dealers is officially CHF 745. CHF 999 is much too high. It is better to wait until the release and possibly compare with other online shops if Digitec sticks to this high price. Even though product prices are usually higher than the suggested price at the beginning, this surcharge is too exaggerated here.

For those wondering about the price. The following was written in an article:

"The Ryzen 3950X will be available in mid-September at the earliest (provisional release date therefore end of September). The current price is not yet final, as we ourselves do not yet know how much the processor will cost us. When it becomes available, the price will of course be adjusted to the correct level for anyone who wants to order it now."

I agree that the CHF 999 is too high. However, it should be noted that the RRP is exclusive of VAT, postage and customs duties. Depending on the price, it could well be around 800-900 CHF.
