The middle section can be pulled out of the aluminium like a slide. The SSD is then simply clicked in and secured on the other side with a rubber nipple. Heat is dissipated without contact. But you could easily use a thermal pad if necessary. I am very satisfied 👍

Yes you can install the SSD without tools , just be careful when installing the SSD you need to fix the other end with a robber pin which is included
I can’t advise about heating since I didn’t use it for long periods, usually 15 minutes max

Be aware that this external M.2 drive enclosure is fitted with a JMicron's JMS583 controller and may not recognize specifics drives !
