I would like to hook the thing up to a power strip with a timer. Does the computer start up automatically as soon as power is supplied?

Depends on the settings in the BIOS, but yes, it works, because that's how I do it. Now I just have to find out how to deactivate the annoying beep when switching on. It almost wakes up the neighbours...
