Garmin Parking Mode Cable
I would like to connect the Garmin dashcam to the fuse box, but I don't need the parking mode and want to avoid discharging the battery. Would the battery still be discharged if the parking mode is turned off in the camera? And would this hardwire kit work if I don't connect the battery cable?
- It has a voltage sensor to preserve the battery. If the battery is low, it won't charge the camera.
- You can connect it to any (suitable) fuse in your car. Depending on your choice, it can have uninterrupted access to the battery, or it can require the ignition (as Padlock962 did).
- If I remember it correctly, parking mode is a separate function that you can turn it off. Check the manual. I don't know why you would install the camera and not use this function, so I didn't bother checking it.
this camera does not discharge the battery . Only if you stop the car for long periods is it better to disconnect it. But in that case you have to use a charge maintainer or disconnect the car battery as well. The plus of Garmin is the parking function. If you don't use it, buy a cheaper dash. Garmin's build quality is of the aircraft type. where reliability is a must
I did exactly the same as Padlock 962.
You can simply switch the power for this kit via the ignition. Works fine for me.
