I read an answer from Brimstone on the same question but for an Inte CPU. He recommends a kit with 4 bars, but says that it should run two kits of 2 for Intel.

This is the same procedure as with Intel. As long as the same specifications are met with the RAM, it doesn't matter whether they are bought directly in 4 or 2x2 kits, it will work. I speak from experience (at least with Ryzen 3700X and Ripjaws V).
