I have the NZXT Phantom, can the fan be connected without an additional controller?

Yes, of course, the fan can be connected to a 3-pin or PWM slot on the mainboard and controlled via UEFI. I would only use the fan as a case fan, as the static pressure is too low for radiators. But all in all, a quiet and attractive LED fan.
