But no CD-Rom drives are recognised on the IDE port. It only works with SATA CD-Rom drives.

It works with my "Internal DVD/CD Writer Serial ATA Interface" Pioneer DVR-218LBK (see https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox...). The Pioneer DVR-218LBK has a SATA connector, but internally it uses IDE mode (and does not work with my "Fantec USB 3.1 to SATA adapter").

I recommend jumpering drives with IDE connectors as "Device 0" or "Cable Select" (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...).

"USB converter for use with SATA, SATA-SSD or IDE hard drives".                  It's not explicitly stated that this converter works for CDVDROM drives/writers... But perhaps your IDE drive needs to be powered separately... Yvan
