I have purchased the safe new.
Unfortunately, I can't open it even though I have inserted fairly new batteries and a green light comes on briefly.
After entering the code, the light turns green again.
However, the lever cannot be moved downwards.
What am I doing wrong?

Try pushing the lever upwards first, as if you were closing the safe. Perhaps the safe was not fully locked. Then enter the code again and open it. Maybe that will help :)
