I have just disposed of an aging Panasconic ER-1611 as I could not repair it myself. As I have always had problems with the length adjustment, I have just bought a Braun trimmer. Unfortunately, I am unsure whether I have made the right decision. Can you help me?

My question is this: I want to trim my hair to 5mm and my beard to 6mm. However, the attachments provided do not allow this. One attachment shows 3/4 mm and the other 6/9 mm. On the machine, you can select the numbers 0.8 or 1.1 etc. on the wheel. How do I get my desired length?

If this can be solved, I would order the Panasonic ER-1611 and return the Braun. Thank you in advance.

1. comb attachment 3 and 4mm; 
2. comb attachment 6 and 9mm; 
3. comb attachment 12 and 15 mm, 
with the adjusting wheel from 0.8mm in 0.3mm steps up to 2.0mm. 

So hair with 3mm comb attachment and adjusting wheel to 2.0mm (is then 5mm), and the beard with the 4mm comb attachment and also 2.0mm with the adjusting wheel - is then 6mm.

It was a good buy, recommended by my hairdresser, would buy it again as it cuts really well and accurately. Even works in the 40sec time slot when cutting my two year old son's hair.
