I have a 64 GB card in the card slot. However, the device does not recognise it. Do I have to format the cards; if so, how? or is the memory size limited?

Thank you very much. I have an XC card. Now I will buy a normal card and try the whole thing with it.

Normal is FAT32, if the device does not recognise the card, you would have to format it externally (for this you need a tool, modern operating systems cannot do this (anymore). But you shouldn't anyway. Buy a cheap 16GB Class 10 card with 16GB. You can easily fit the whole world on it. Since the device has no media player or Bluetooth, a 64GB card makes no sense.

Hello kurtbucher41
According to the TomTom homepage no max. memory capacity is given, because of the formatting this should come autom. a message and otherwise about the settings. But there is an exact SD designation on the homepage. It must be a MicroSD card, so it is possible that the device could have problems with MicroSD HC or XC (you can find this information directly on the memory card). If a small SD card is available or you could borrow one, I would test it that way.
