I currently have a Samsung 840 EVO Basic 250GB https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/samsung-840-evo-basic-250gb-25-ssd-457739 I am planning to buy this Samsung 860 QVO 1TB again, or the Pro version of it, but then only 500GB because of the price. I'm just wondering if the 860 QVO card is "worse/slower" than my current old one and I will notice a bad difference. If it is "better/faster" than the current 840 EVO, I won't need/notice the Pro variant. Do you have any experience?

Hello, the SSDs have different types of memory. Your 840 Evo has TLC 3Bit, the 860 QVO has QLC 4Bit, internally they all have a small fast memory SLC, when this is full, the data is moved to the slower memory, the write rate drops massively. The Pro's have MLC 2bit which is very fast and even with very large amounts of data the write rate remains constant. I think the 840 does better.
