I am a little confused. Can I connect the FiiO BTR5 to my old analogue stereo system to listen to music from my smartphone? In the car, according to the description, I can connect the BTR5 to the car stereo and listen to music. But I can't find any indication that this also applies to an analogue stereo system.

Helpful answer

The Fiio BTR5 can be used as an audio source in the car or on the stereo system at home. In both scenarios, the stereo system only needs an AUX input for playback, where the BTR5 is connected via cable. I.e. if your home stereo has an AUX input (usually a coaxial/ RCA connection), the BTR5 can be used as an audio source. (Often another input on the stereo system can be used, it does not have to be AUX).

While this is absolutely possible, it is not the intended use case of this product. Problem is, the BTR5 has a battery that you have to keep charging. In other words, the BTR5 is intended as a _portable_ Bluetooth headphone amplifier.

A better solution for a _static_ installation would be the Fiio BTA30 (https://www.fiio.com/bta30) or similar devices from other manufacturers. These are powered directly via a mains adapter and do not have a battery.

This is possible in any case with the appropriate cable, e.g. stereo jack (at the headphone output of the BTR5) to cinch at the stereo system input (or whatever it offers, e.g. to AUX IN). Turn up the volume on the BTR5 and adjust it to the stereo position. In the car I would have more reservations, not all have inputs for this yet.
