How does the SF Pro 4 behave with the heat/volume when I have 1-2 VMs running on it or am programming/compiling C++? Is it disturbing in the classroom?

Helpful answer

At full load, the fan is audible, but not annoying for me. I cannot judge how much CPU load is generated by 1-2VMs or C++ programming, but my memory- and CPU-intensive programmes have caused the Venti to switch on rather rarely. Tip: Do not expose it to direct sunlight during operation (e.g. window). The device doesn't like that at all (heat build-up). But all in all, a TOP device. Still 5 stars.

I also think it is a successful device from Microsoft.
However, Microsoft cannot outsmart physics.
The i7 produces so much heat (not with Visual Studio or Eclipse) under load,
that the device gets so "warm" that you no longer want to hold it in your hand.
and the volume is quite loud for such a small device.
I don't think it's a bad buy, but today I'd rather buy a light notebook with a real keyboard,
with a real keyboard.
