How does the dimming function work? Is there a button on the lamp? Thank you

The button on the lamp is only for colour change. Dimming is only possible via the app.

No, the dimming of the lamp is done via the Hue App (either via Bluetooth (make sure you buy the Hue Go Base BT variant that supports this) or via WLAN via the Hue Bridge).
