Alpine Ezi-Dab-Bt
Hello I installed the Alpine EZI-DAB-BT in my VW Caddy today. It works fine, but the reception is very poor. I receive just 34 stations, most of which interrupt all the time. SRF3 works decently, Rockit, for example, extremely poorly. Antenna is glued to the windscreen as indicated and the ground magnet is attached to the roof under the panelling. Sometimes the search brings up no stations, then sometimes 17 and then 34. Nothing more. The rest works fine. Any ideas?
Hello Till,
That sounds familiar - it also happened to us with a related device, the Pure Highway 600 (Pure is also the original manufacturer of the Alpine device).
Compared to other installations, we seldom had a complete search, the reception on the road always failed. After a few months of testing, I returned the device to Digitec and, after a lengthy back-and-forth, the importer replaced it "as a gesture of goodwill". Pure's support took weeks to reply (long before Corona), but at least they suggested a replacement straight away. Since then, the reception is absolutely perfect - with the same antenna at the same installation location. Since your device is new, I would initiate a DoA (Dead on Arrival) exchange at Digitec.
In the meantime, you can still update the firmware of the receiver (-> https://www.alpine.ch/support... ), but this requires a Windows computer. I don't think this will make much difference.
Greetings,
-Kurt
