Hello, the specs for this e reader say the device is backlit. I thought I could get an E Ink reader with no front or back light. Is that possible? I’ve not seen one here.

You can simply turn the backlight off by minimizing the luminosity, it works.
Well, you can also switch off the backlight.
I'm very happy with the device and wouldn't want to be without the backlight, it's easy on my eyes even in dim light.

I deliberately chose this reader with backlighting.
I find it much more pleasant to read with backlighting.
BUT in
the settings page 2 you can also select dark mode.
