Hello, is it normal for it to make a slight microwave noise when it is switched on?

Yes and no: Very close to the device (ear directly next to it) you can hear a low humming/beeping. From 1-2 metres it should normally no longer be perceptible.
Do the tested: Disconnect all cables, leave only power on. Sometimes another component causes the humming.
If it is still humming, the most common causes are
- Hum loop (devices connected to different sockets)
- Power supply units/cable routing (power supply units too close to audio cables)
- Earthing

I haven't noticed it yet. But maybe it's my age and my hearing.
No, it's not good at all. Maybe you have some device nearby that is causing feedback. Mine doesn't make a sound.
