Good evening!
The last 2 digits of the model correspond to the year of production, the DS224+ has 2GB of memory compared to 1GB for the 223j, now if it's just for storing video files, I suppose the DS223j will do the job as on the Synology site Plex is compatible https://www.synology.com/fr-fr/dsm/packages/PlexMediaServer.

I use the DS either with the internal media server app with an Apple TV connected wirelessly or the Emby server connected to the TV wirelessly, and it works great. No performance problems.
