I have the box together with a FireStick 4K and a Sonos 5.1 setup.
When connected directly to the TV, I have a 5.1 signal on the speakers, but when I connect the box in between, the signal is reduced to PCM (2.0).

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution?

I have the same problem with a Chromecast.
I added an hdmi/toslink splitter directly to the chromecast. The HDMI goes to the box, then to the TV. And the sonos is connected directly in toslink.
A simple hdmi splitter isn't enough, because the audio outputs aren't really independent.

If I’m not mistaken it doesn’t support 5.1 on their hdmi!
If you want something good you must have their old Philips OLed, or you buy the Philips hue lights for tv and use them with a Samsung… since the app is available on the Samsung tv’s!

Philips tv doesn’t come anymore with the lights… 
Philips TV and Philips Hue are two  different companies…
