If I want to play via SteamLink, how far away from the router can I be for the whole thing to be stable? (Do the glasses have good reception even if the router is not in the same room)

Depends on what you're playing - for FPS it's a bit heavier, e.g. single player adventure games.
I don't have that much experience with SteamLink, but with xbox cloud 3-4m was still ok.
