No not at all, the cable is a little fragile but otherwise great

I found it... I'd plugged it into a power strip with USB sockets as well. Now I've plugged it into a USB charger and the noise has gone!
Thank you for your answers. I'm going to keep it anyway. If I bring it back, Digitec will throw it in the bin and replace it and that's a shame. I would remove the plug. Hopefully the thing won't catch fire...
