Does anyone know if I buy a current TomTom Go (Superior), does this device support 4G? In Switzerland, 2G has long since been switched off, and 3G will also be switched off at the end of this year. Every country seems to have different rules.
LifeView and the like will no longer work in CH from the start (it makes no sense for me via a mobile connection, I might as well use Google Maps).

The LifeView only works if you connect the TomTom to your mobile. We weren't aware of this when we bought it - but it seems to be the norm today. We don't use it much and if we do, then only "offline", because for us a mobile is for making calls 😁!

The TomTom Go Superior 6 no longer has its own SIM card, it connects to your mobile's internet via Bluetooth, which can be 4G or 5G. The mobile naturally needs a mobile data connection when you are on the move.

TomTom devices no longer have built-in SIM cards. A mobile phone is therefore required to connect the sat nav to the Internet when you are on the move (typically via Bluetooth tethering). The answer to the question of whether 4G or 5G is supported is therefore: yes, of course... if your mobile supports it.
Does that make sense now? Well, sat nav manufacturers are now cutting back on pretty much everything they can (accelerometer, brightness sensor, SIM card). This is to keep the devices cheap so that people will still buy them. One advantage remains: unlike Google Maps, a TomTom also works without an internet connection ... which can be an advantage when travelling abroad, for example. And in my experience, it also navigates a little better :-)
