Hello all I am considering replacing the existing drive in my laptop with this larger one. However, I don't necessarily want to buy a USB adapter for this one-off exercise (and I suspect I only have one interface in the laptop). Could I basically mirror the old drive to an external USB hard drive, then replace the smaller SSD with the larger one, then boot from the external mirrored drive, and finally mirror the external drive to the new larger SSD? Merci and greetings

Basically, with the appropriate software, it already works as you described.

But what do you do with the old SSD? A "USB adapter" can also be an external housing where you can, for example, insert the old SSD after the exchange with the new one, which you otherwise no longer need. This way you have a big and fast USB stick. Icy Box IB-1818-U31 (M.2 2230, M.2 2242, M.2 2260)

By the way, the SSD selected here is a SATA / AHCI version. Is that what you need? Because there are NVMe versions of SSDs. Both are not compatible with each other and must fit the laptop.
