Question about Synology Ds916+
Has anyone had any experience with this NAS in connection with ROON Server?

Not yet. But it's my turn to try it out. It sounds promising and should actually work. According to Roon, an external SSD must simply be connected for the database, because Roon explicitly points out not to run it on normal HDs.
I will be able to say more in about 1 week.
