Good day, Can I use the full capacity of both built-in hard disks on a 2-bay NAS? For example, if I install 2 x 4 TB hard drives, do I have 8 TB of storage or only 4 TB (twice)?

Good day,
You can configure the HDDs as you wish.
What you want is a RAID 0 array, which is supported by every Synology with 2 or more HDDs.
That means you then have 8 TB of storage.
