Question about AMD Ryzen 7 1800x

I already have M.2 on my ASUS Z170-PREMIUM motherboard with 512gb.
I'm not sure if it makes sense, as you said Ryzen1800x is on the level of a 6900k and that for just under 600fr that's a fair price in my opinion.
I have thought of 2 options either switch to amd Ryzen1800x or continue with intel just buy a 1080. What do you think

The main problem is that you would have to buy a new motherboard... I would also wait for independent benchmarks.

Hello, I think you should wait until 5 March or so, than we will have more reviews and comparations of the new AMD cpu's and how capable they are.
There we will be able to say how good that cpu's are.
Just remember the when FX 8150 arrived.
One i7 6700k for streaming and some video working still being an amazing processor I think you shouldn't need a new processor in next year or two.

It depends on what you do with the computer. If it's just for gaming, it makes a minimal difference, but doesn't really justify an upgrade. It really makes sense if you are doing work that benefits from the 8 cores. E.g. content creator, video/photo editing, workstation load, etc. This is where upgrading is most beneficial.
In summary, for gamers, the update from a Skylake is not worth it.

If you have enough money and do other Cpu-heavy things besides gaming, then yes and certainly yes if you want to switch to X99. You should rather take am4 instead of x99 because the price is more worthwhile than x99.

So I personally wouldn't update, I still have the Haswell platform with a 980 and still get along well with it, it's also enough for smaller work for Youtube and the like.
