Does this repeater support crossband or similar, so that the transmission rate is not halved?

No, crossband is not supported, as it only operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Unfortunately, halving the transmission rate is unavoidable with this model. An alternative would be this repeater: AVM FRITZ!WLAN Repeater 1750E, ac1300/n450 However, it also depends on the router and the client whether you can use the technology.
