Does this also work with the MacBook Pro 13'' Early 2011 (MacBook 8.1)? Or is this MacBook possibly too slippery?

The fans will run, the MacBook should have USB 2.0 port.
The fan pad only has anti-slip elements at the edge. The 13'' book cannot reach these and could slip over the pad.
You can, for example, stick an anti-slip strip on the pad.
