Does the USB-C port support alternate mode? Can I connect a monitor to it with an adapter?

USB-C is the advanced version of USB 3.1. if you connect a graphics adapter to USB-C, your computer will also support it. USB-C is better than USB3.1, no problem to connect another screen.
