Does the unit need to be plugged directly into the charger to charge, or is there a station included to put it in (not the cleaning station)?

No charging station, only charging cable. I'm buying it anyway because of the numerous and mostly positive reviews. Instead of putting it in the mirror cabinet to save space, I have to put it there to waste space. There are worse things ;-)

The Braun 3 is connected via cable for charging, no cleaning station.
