Does the TomTom Go Premium have a 2G, 3G or 4G SIM card?

Hello I had contact with TomTom support who replied as follows:

I understand your concerns about the 2G SIM card in your device and I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.   I would like to inform you that the TomTom GO Premium has a 2G SIM card.   If the 2G SIM has been abolished in Switzerland, you will need to tether the device to a smartphone in order to receive traffic and speed camera.   I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. 

I have now started a request whether there are plans for TomTom with 3/4G sim, an answer is unfortunately still pending. 
I will update here as soon as I know more.

Please clarify this issue for your customers and publish the correct information in a prominent place.
Since the 2G network will be switched off in the foreseeable future (around the end of 2020), this information is very important. Until I have this answer, I will definitely not replace my TT Go 5100 with a TT Premium.

Unfortunately, I do not know the specifications of the SIM itself. However, according to my information, the built-in module only supports 2G/GSM. For more information, it is best to contact the manufacturer directly.

Situation in Switzerland:
As already known, Swisscom has shut down the 2G network at the end of 2020. Therefore, the LiveTraffic service will no longer work.
What has been hushed up so far is the fact that Sunrise will continue to operate the 2G network until at least the end of 2022. It would therefore be possible for TT to register the SIM cards on the Sunrise network.
I was told by the actually very friendly support at TT that it is simply a question of the number of complaints whether something will be done.
I understand customer service to mean something different. After all, we all bought a Lifetime Service...

Where do you get your pseudo-information from?
There are NO plans at all to switch off 2G in Germany!
2G serves as a fallback network for voice communication. 3G will be switched off.
You'd better be glad that TomTom doesn't jump on every new bandwagon, but relies on stable networks. 2G has now achieved the best network coverage and is relatively fail-safe.
