Does the processor work/fit the mainboard: Asus H97M-E? and would a Noctua NH-U12S (15.80cm) be enough to cool the processor? Thanks in advance :)
As for cooling, the Noctua NH-U12S can adequately cool an AMD FX 8350 with 125 watts TDP. Since the 7700k "only" has a TDP of 91 watts, this should be fine.
Great, thanks for the extremely quick answer :) I will look for a processor with the 1150 socket in that case.
The Asus H97M-E is a motherboard with socket 1151 but the i7 7700k needs socket 1150 so they are not compatible. :)
Brimstone is absolutely right. Besides, the 7700k only has a max. TDP of 91 watts, but it is still a hothead and you should definitely use a good cooling system. And you need a new CPU cooler anyway, best take a top class air cooler or a water cooler in the 100Fr price range + it is also important to know if you want to overclock.
