Yes, the device works abroad as it employs GPS coverage worldwide. For route planning in the app, you need an internet connection (e.g. via your prepaid data volume in Switzerland), but the navigation itself runs offline as soon as the route is saved. If you deviate from the course, an internet connection is required again for automatic diversions.
