Does the additional 4-pin connector for the CPU have to be occupied or is it possible to overclock the CPU without this 4-pin?

Exactly the same with me. Question back: why don't you want to use the 4-pin?
Regarding overclocking, I can't say much without knowing your setup and your plans/wishes, but in general you can say that an optimal power supply is certainly an advantage...

According to several YouTube videos, a CPU should also be able to be operated normally without the additional 4-pin connector. On my board I used both connectors because the cable was there....
