Does it need additional cooling for this processor?
Intending to put together an ASRock z97 OC Formula (LGA 1159 ) with an i7 4790k can anyone tell me is the good wal or sol I buy another mainboard other processor komt not in fragen bin in i74790k verlibt :-)
Thanks in advance!
Additional cooling is recommended. With the enclosed fan, the CPU gets hot and the fan is also loud.
I can confirm all the previous statements, it makes sense in all cases to use a stronger and quieter cooler. The supplied cooler is rather intended for simple dual-core processors that are not so intensively used. The 4790K has an open multiplier and can "only" be overclocked up to 4x4.8 GHz, so the operating temperature immediately skyrockets under high load. When choosing a CPU cooler, I would look for sufficiently powerful cooling, low noise, height (note the max. CPU cooler height of the case!), and possibly (some large coolers block a RAM slot on the motherboard!) the design.
Can only confirm "capslockag's" comment. I have also replaced my fan.
Addition: I use the Arctic Freezer i30 (16.10cm) ;-)
The processor comes directly with a standard fan, with which everything runs perfectly. However, it is not very good, as it disturbs the airflow in the enclosure.
