Do you need a base station? And is this 100m range realistic? We have an open-plan office where I want to connect 5 cameras and there are about 40-50 metres from one wall to the other, with a few walls in between.
We already have Wi-Fi everywhere, which can also be provided for the cameras.
Yes, you need a base station because the cameras cannot be connected to another WLAN. There is no corresponding menu in the settings (or at least I haven't found one). But setting up the system was no problem. Everything was installed, connected and set up in less than an hour. Since then, everything has been working perfectly.
About the range: In my case, the base station is connected to the Internet router in the basement. The connection to a camera outside on a soffit at a distance of approx. 20m did not work because the signal was already too weak.
If you position the base station in the middle of the open-plan office and the cameras at half the remaining distance of 20-25 metres, i.e. 10-12 metres from the base station, it should work. The cameras will then cover the remaining distance to the end of the room without any problems.
Since the image quality is excellent, you can still see details even then.
